Adventures of Turtle Taido - an animated cartoon series will soon air on African television. The series is about the adventures of a super-powered, bubbly turtle, Taido, who travels to all the cities across Nigeria in search of knowledge and adventure. Through his journey, he forms incredible friendships with characters of all backgrounds, and learns about the rich cultural attributes of each place he visits.
SOME MEMBERS OF THE TURTLE TAIDO MAGIC TEAM: From Left: Creator and Executive Producer, Muyiwa Kayode; Producer, Don Mangan; Animation Director, Artie Romero and Project Manager, Gretchen Piper.
TURTLE TAIDO reinforces the message that the more we learn and understand other people’s cultures, the more respect and tolerance we will have for diversity. This concept is so important to teach young ones in light of what is going on in the world today.
According to the creator and executive producer, Muyiwa Kayode, “Culture is perhaps the most important element of a people’s identity. However, there is a gradual erosion of our culture in the way our children are being raised, with most of them in the urban areas unable to connect with our cultural values”.
TURTLE TAIDO, primarily developed for children aged 3 to 11 years will also be enjoyed by people of all ages, because of its entertaining and educative content.
A global team of more than fifty people drawn from Nigeria, Europe and America is working on the 2D animated cartoon series, which is being produced in 4K resolution, the highest standard available in the world today.
While the series is set to go on Nigerian TV screens in August, a Sneak Preview will be held in Lagos on Thursday June 25, for a selected audience, comprising Brand Managers, Broadcast Networks and the Media.
The series is produced with support from the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Project ACT Nollywood Program and endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation
Photographer Creates Stunning Images of African Orisha Deities You've Never Heard of Before
Photographer James C. Lewis went out on a creative limb to re-imagine ancient African Yoruba dieties- the Orisha, using striking models, expert photography, and inventive photo editing techniques. While the true essence of the Orisha is likely poorly understood by most people in the modern world in comparison to their ancient and rich roots in African culture, Lewis creates a stunning visual world that is sure to spark the imagination.
As a culture we are quite use to the artistic treatment of religious, spiritual, and mythical entities from Greek ancestral lore, various world religions, and other cultural heroes, yet rarely is the fascinating world of the Orisha the topic of discussion. These images are gorgeous, shocking, and of course an artists interpretation, but hopefully they get your wheels turning in regards to the power, complexity, and richness of Yoruba spiritual symbology and life:
When asked to express where his inspiration for this photo project arose from, Lewis had this to say,
"Throughout my formal education from elementary up through college I never heard tale of African deities. A little over a month ago I began to research online to find information in regards to the gods & goddesses of Africa. To my surprise there were many, however the ones that stood out the most were the deities of Nigeria and Benin, West Africa which they referred to as Orishas.
I wanted to portray the regal beauty of each Orisha while also representing their majestic sensuality. Each iconic depiction was rendered to lend strength to our resilience as a great race of people and to show our youth that they are beautiful, bold and brilliant just they way God created them to be. […] each Orisha’s name is written in the Yoruba dialect and captures imagery of powerful men, women & children of various complexions who are all of African descent."

What do you get when you call the Nigerian Artist, Collyde Prime to give you a comic book that will sell your music album? Keep guessing you might just get the straight out answer. A little hint to stir the brain. The Ibo language call it honorary and the Yoruba will say it is an established mass (biggy bounty) And....You guessed right.....IDI RABATA! Though I quite helped a lot in the guessing procedures.
Well thats right. News: Cash Cow music Business wanted to do something unique with and edgy to sell their upcoming album of the same name IDI- RABATA which in the Yoruba language means BIG YASH (BUTTOCKS)". Well they picked the right artist because what Collyde gave was all BUTTOCKS irrevocably referred to as the Gluteus maximus.
The story is simply about a seductive Orange seller whose mission is more than just hawking the orange balls. Check out some few pages from the comic book
REVIEW:
Idi-rabata is quite a funny and thrilling work of art but however, the drawings seemed quite shaken. Kudos for the color and effects made. This could most probably increase the impressum for Idi-Rabata and Collyde for his effort in knack creativity.
It is most admirably lovely to engage in.
But tempting too... lol
